By using this website or submitting a form, you agree to the practices described here. Use of the website is also governed by our Terms of Service.

Information We Collect

We only collect the information we need to process your gift, respond to you, and run our programs:

  • Contact details – your name, email address, phone number, and organization when you contact us, donate, volunteer, or subscribe.
  • Donation details – gift type, amount, frequency, designation, tribute information, and employer matching details.
  • Volunteer applications – your area of interest, availability, and anything you tell us about your skills and experience.
  • Messages – the inquiry type and message you send through our contact form or by email.
  • Technical data – basic browser, device, and usage information collected automatically when you visit the website.

Donor Privacy

We respect the privacy of our donors. We never sell, rent, or trade donor names, contact details, or giving history with other organizations.

  • Card details entered on our Donate page are checked in your browser and are not sent to or stored on this website.
  • We keep the records required to issue tax receipts and meet IRS and charity reporting obligations.
  • Donors are only named publicly, for example in an annual report, with their permission. You may ask to give anonymously at any time.
  • Tribute and memorial gift details are used only to send the acknowledgment you request.

How We Use Information

  • To process donations, send receipts, and administer recurring and matching gifts.
  • To respond to inquiries and route them to the right team.
  • To review volunteer applications, schedule orientation, and coordinate events.
  • To send newsletters, impact updates, and event invitations you have asked for.
  • To report on our programs to donors, partners, and regulators.
  • To maintain, secure, and improve this website.

When We Share Information

We share personal information only as needed to carry out our mission or comply with the law:

  • Service providers – companies that host our website, process payments, or deliver email on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Matching gift programs – your employer, when you ask us to confirm a matching gift.
  • Program partners – local partner organizations, only when needed to place you as a volunteer.
  • Legal requirements – when required by law, audit, or to protect the rights and safety of our community, staff, and beneficiaries.

Cookie Policy

This website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential cookies – keep the website working and secure, for example while you complete a form.
  • Preference and analytics data – help us understand which pages are useful so we can improve them. This data is reported in aggregate.
  • Third-party content – web fonts and icons are loaded from external providers, and the interactive map on our Contact page is provided by Google Maps. The map only loads when you choose to open it. These providers may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features may not work as intended without essential cookies. Calendar files you download from our Events page are created in your browser and do not share any data with us.

Emails & Newsletters

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will send monthly impact updates, program stories, and ways to get involved. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Donation receipts and messages about an application or registration you made are not marketing and will still be sent.

Security & Retention

This website is served over an encrypted (SSL) connection, and we limit access to personal information to the staff and partners who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Donation records are kept for as long as tax and charity regulations require. Other information is kept only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, then deleted or anonymized.

Your Rights

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, to stop sending you marketing, or to restrict how we use it. If you live in the UK or European Economic Area, you also have rights under the GDPR, including data portability and the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Some records must be kept for legal or tax reasons, and we will tell you if that applies.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information online. Information about children who take part in our programs is collected offline with the consent of a parent or guardian and is never published without that consent.
